Affinegy, which makes software for cable boxes and other devices, announced Tuesday that is has acquired part of Sagemcom’s business.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Austin-based software company says the acquisition will grow its employees by 40 percent and add an engineering and business group in Dallas and a customer support, quality and testing center in Poland.
It also acquired hardware and five patents and gained customers in Europe, Africa, Japan, Asia and Central and South America.
Affinegy’s products are aimed at connecting the home to set-top boxes, wireless gateways and other devices. Its software is used in more than 33 million households worldwide in 27 languages.
